RELACIÓN ENTRE EL IMC, CIRCUNFERENCIA ABDOMINAL Y EL RIESGO DE ENFERMEDADES CARDIOVASCULARES EN ESTUDIANTES UNIVERSITARIOS POR GRUPOS DE GÉNERO

Resumen

El riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares (ECV) se elevó por el confinamiento obligatorio establecido a nivel mundial por la pandemia del COVID-19 sobre todo por la relación entre el Índice de Masa Corporal (IMC) y la Circunferencia Abdominal (CA), en base a lo planteado se establece como objetivo del estudio determinar la relación entre el IMC, CA y el riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares en estudiantes universitarios por grupos de género. La metodología se desarrolló en base a un estudio de enfoque cuantitativo, por diseño de investigación no experimental de alcance correlacional con corte transversal, en una muestra total de 1691 estudiantes universitarios ecuatorianos (51.1% masculino) y (48.9% femenino), se calculó el IMC y determinó el fenotipo de obesidad además de la valoración de la circunferencia abdominal con categorización de riesgo según OMS, aplicando una correlación estadística con pruebas de Rho de Spearman y Tau-c de Kendall a través del paquete SPSS 25. Los resultados alcanzados en base al análisis de IMC determinaron: (Masculino 23.87 ±3.57; Sobre peso 31.7%, 3% obesidad I, 1.4% obesidad II y 0.3% obesidad III – (Femenino) 25.38 ±4.10; Sobre peso 39.3%, %, 11.6% obesidad I, 1.8% obesidad II y 0.7% obesidad III) con un P≤0.05; análisis CA (Masculino 85.9 ±10.08: 15.5% riesgo) (Femenino 79.84 ±13.26; 41.0%); análisis de relación con riesgo de ECV (masculina) 0.463 correlación positiva débil P≤ 0.01- (femenino) 0.653 correlación positiva moderada P≤ 0.01). En base a los resultados alcanzados se determinó que, en el centro de estudios analizado, en la relación entre el IMC y CA se evidencio que el 8,98% (masculino) y el 34.54% (femenino) se encontraban en un riesgo de ECV entre niveles de mayor a extremadamente elevado.
